October  2020

September was a month of contrasts and not just the weather. The planned trip to Bowes Museum at the end of the month was cancelled.

The rising tide of Covid19 and the changes in 'lockdown' in County Durham meant that we were wary of proceeding.

We will reschedule when the Museum is fully open again and we can go back to the original plan of lunch and a guided tour.

On the 13th,before the rule of six, twenty members met at 'Teacups cafe' in Pateley Bridge for a coffee (and bacon sandwich) from the Hamster Hut.

Great place for a coffee if you are driving through there and free parking. We proceeded leisurely to Masham for a picnic lunch.

There were about six more cars joined us there. We were carefully spaced in small groups and had a great day in the sunshine.

We are going back there on the 11th October, weather permitting, just for a picnic lunch from 11.30am Coffee breaks

are not possible at the moment. Maybe see you there, from a distance.

There is more bad news I'm afraid. The restrictions on gatherings (6 or 15 or 30) means that we have had to cancel the

Christmas dinner at Ascot House. We will endeavour to put something else in place when it is possible.

Our survey earlier showed that members were reluctant to eat indoors, pub nights or Sunday lunch, at the moment.

If there is a change of heart let me know and we will try to arrange something.

If the weather is kind and we have an Indian Summer, we will have another picnic in November.

Do members have ideas for a different venue bearing in mind Covid restrictions? (large car parking space, nearby facilities)

There may not be another run this year after the 11th, so to keep the Distibutor going we would like you to tell us of your activities during the year.

Do not forget zoom meeting on Wednesday 14th at 7.30pm.

Some members have expressed concern about the picnic on the 11th. The official website Gov.uk/covid19 states

2.2 How many people am I allowed to meet with outdoors?

When meeting with people you donít live with (or who you have not formed a support bubble with) you can socialise in groups of up to 6. If your household (and/or support bubble) is larger than 6 people, this is your largest permitted group and you cannot meet as a group with any additional people. You should continue to maintain social distancing with anyone you do not live with.

Please make sure when you park up there are no more than six people in your group. Avoid 'mingling' with other groups.  If there any further restrictions announced before Sunday or if the run has to be cancelled we will e-mail on Friday.
