March 2017

Mayor’s Ball

Three couples (Janet & David Grimshaw, Jan & John Wilkins, Sue & David Abbott ) enjoyed a four course dinner,

aperitif, and a generous supply of wine. Mayor Stanley Lumley outlined the origin of the charity and the aim to provide

grants to the small clubs and societies in need of help in Upper Nidderdale.

The grants go to all ages from children to senior citizens, and are spread across an incredibly wide range of activities.
The evening concluded with a excellent singer and dancing until midnight.
The Memorial Hall was wonderfully decorated with red and white balloons, hearts etc and had a great ambience.
We were made  very welcome and enjoyed the company of the Mayors from all the towns in a 30mile radius plus the local MP,

but the highlight of the night was definitely the roast beef.

Joiners Arms

A new club venue for Thursday nights, which was recently taken over by a new team.

They were very welcoming and accommodating with the advantage of 'Good Yorkshire fare and value for money'.

Twenty six members attended and comments indicate a return visit may be on the cards.

Ten members attended this years show but unfortunately due to a mix up we did not have a club stand.

However, we did manage to publicise our show and hand out flyers.
