Harrogate MG
& Classic Car Club
June 2022
Carding
Shed
We
started with coffee & biscuits at The Calverley Arms.
There was a short run to the Carding Shed via the outskirts of Bradford, Brighouse, Huddersfield and Holmfirth.
There
were a few variations on the planned route but everybody reached their
destination.
There
were other groups having a day out including a group of very smartly attired
gentlemen
on motorbikes replete with waistcoats and bow ties.
The
Shed has a larger café and better menu than their last premises; food and staff
were very good.
Sunny Bank Mills
This cropped up at the last minute and two cars went on the Saturday.
It
was a short hop from home and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.
There
was a vintage fair in the mill premises (familiar to those who watch the
Sewing
Bee) with food stalls and a bar on site.
It may become a regular feature.
Tadcaster
Classic Car Show
One of the first shows of the year was held at John Smiths car park.
Nice to see David Salter’s Armstrong Siddeley there.
We have sent information to various outlets re the club’s change of name and our show.
Some have published but others have not, we will keep trying and welcome other suggestions.
The
amended club banners have been sent to print and will be ready to use soon.
‘Classic
Yorkshire’, an online magazine, has published an article on the MGB with
comments
from our chairman about his cars. They
have added a link to our show.
You can subscribe (for free) just put the name into a search engine.
They
have also recently done articles on The Carding Shed and Sunny Bank Mills show,
still
available
on line.

Booking
by July club night preferably earlier.

A polite request, with attendance at club nights sporadic, that members who have signed up for an event
make a note to remind themselves. If they cannot attend to inform the organiser asap,
it
can be somewhat demoralising to have to apologise to the venue on the day for
low numbers.
We will, for the time being, e-mail all who have signed up to remind them of details, please reply.
If you do not receive an e-mail a few days before the event but think that you should have done get in touch.
We
are always happy to check for you.
Harrogate
MG 2022
We still need volunteers to help run the show.
Please
sign up to help sooner rather than later. (George’s nerves are getting frazzled. - Susan)
The
show meal is booked, see last month’s Distibutor.
Knaresborough
Silver Band and a Jazz trio are now confirmed.
There
will be a dog show and a book stall, books wanted.
We are still showing ‘Cars of Interest’ and have decided to award first and second place trophies.
We
have created a more formal form for this year and hope to expand the concept as
the club moves forward.
Other
outlets of advertising are being contacted.
