Club News

Members are still meeting on Zoom for a social chat every other Wednesday.

Anybody is welcome to join. Victor would be happy to help if you are struggling.

Next  meetings      21st July     4th August

Last month we had a run organised by Roger Illingworth.

We met at the Riverside car park in Wetherby and proceeded on a 45 mile run and back to the start for a picnic.

The run took us on some unfamiliar roads to the east of Wetherby and despite a few getting lost right at the start it was very enjoyable.

It had forecast a scorching day but in the end it was pleasantly warm.

Forthcoming Events

17th July - Northallerton are holding a car show and fun day (Saturday)

10.00am to 3.00pm They would appreciate numbers and reg. no's from us if we wish to attend.

It hopes to include a car boot, stalls, cream teas etc.

It is to be held on Northallerton Football club ground, Ainderby Road, DL7 8HA.

25th July - Club run. Meet for coffee at the Hamster Hut (Teacups - Pateley Bridge)

First turning after the showground. The current plan is to then go on for a picnic,

destination to be decided, (work ongoing at Yorkshire reservoirs) watch for e-mails.

7th August - The Magnette register are meeting up at Embsay railway, they will be in the area for our show on the 8th.

There are various options available. A train ride, a train ride with tea & scones, a train ride with a fish and chip supper.

Visit to the engine sheds/workshop are hopefully available.

There is an entry form to be filled, e-mail me for one and the full details. You could just turn up and say hello.

22nd August - Picnic run to Middleham Gallops as a wind down after the show.

30th August - Monday. Harrogate Car Enthusiasts show at Harrogate Rugby Ground.

we have attended their previous shows at Harrogate Railway, usually a good mix of sports, modified and classics.

9th October - The Walled Garden run an 'Apple Day' annually as a fund-raising and profile-raising event.

This event is usually well supported with a lot of visitors on site and this year it is planned for 9th October.

I have been asked if it is possible that any Harrogate MG club member might be available to help operate a BBQ for them?

(Probably using our BBQ which is stored on site.) I am not available to help myself as I will be there making music on the day.

The CEO writes:-

Do you think that MG members would be willing to use this on 'Apple Day' for us?

We would buy all ingredients etc. if there were some willing volunteers to run the BBQ.

We were thinking an easy system, orders placed at the Kiosk,

and a ticket handed over which is then handed to the BBQ chef for completion of order.

So it would be cooking only (not processing order or payment).

Thanks

Don Hanson
