Diary dates for 2021 -     25th July - Ripon Classic Car Gala

1st August - Yorkshire Pudding Run

                                       8th August - Harrogate MG 2021

We have already made plans for a new picnic run for when restrictions are lifted.

There is always the option of returning to Middleham Gallops or to Masham.

Hopefully there will be more opportunities, any suggestions will be welcome.

Before we were closed down last year we had two 'lectures' booked for club nights.

They are both still available for when we eventually start to meet again.

Harrogate MG 2021

Plans for the show to go ahead on August 8th are progressing and we will keep you informed of just what is planned.

Currently the showground is booked, subject to Covid, and that is presently our only expenditure.

Because we have taken the decision to have just the Sunday show a number of other items are unnecessary expenses.

There will be no marquee and no portable toilets.

David has reorganised the layout of the Showground to allow for more social distancing.

There will be no dog show or bookstall and other activities are still being considered.

Concours and cars of interest will still take place. Club stands and trade are being invited to attend.

Brian has offered appropriate PPE for any member who wishes to use it.

We know that some members are still wary, we will ask members in May/June whether they want to participate.

Rest assured the show will only go ahead if we consider it safe to do so.

There has been a request posted on our Facebook page for information/photographs on Appleyards of Harrogate.

The person said his MGF was first sold and registered by them.

Any help would be appreciated, please send to either us or Maureen.

Article from Roger Goulden

Iíve really enjoyed the Zoom meetings. I promised George and Susan to write for Distributor.

We didnít manage to get to Greece but managed two trips to the Dales.  On the last weekend before the second wave lockdown,

we went for a short drive for lunch. We ended up going past every picnic spot the Club had visited - or planned to visit - since the first lockdown.

We repeated bacon butties and coffee in Pateley Bridge. Excellent ! The boggy carpark by the river in Kettlewell would have been a disaster.

The loos were good.  Up Cam Gill Road - my favourite road  - through Coverdale.

We stopped off in the middle of Masham for an ice cream (BRR!!) to remind us of our last picnic and committee meeting in the park.

We got horribly lost and ended up suddenly seeing Middleham Gallops as it was getting dark. But we didn't take any photos.

On the day before our third lockdown fate was to be announced, we decided to drive to the Dales.

We found a bench for lunch outside Mackenzies Smokehouse and remembered our Sunday meal a few years ago.

By now the weather was improving. Where shall we go? Iíll take some photos for our backdrop at the next Zoom.

Fancy hats, mulled wine and cake!  So where is this picture?

Letís go for a walk.

Sounds familiar. Hazel and I had been to Bowes Museum in the motorhome. We were looking forward to the lunch and guided tour.

I remember poor David kept on getting mucked about so it never happened.  But Iím sure there was another lockdown story Iíve forgotten.

Pushbikes are a regular sight when are out with the Club.

Should we be thinking of leaving our own plaques as mementos?

Letís hope we can get a plaque for 2121.

Not far now.

Hope to see you soon.
